About the Artist
Anna Shipulina
In her work, Anna uses traditional and time-honored hand-building techniques, creating ceramic objects without a pottery wheel. Instead she relies on her hands and a few simple tools, establishing a more direct and tactile connection between the artist and the clay. She is also drawn to the imperfect, organic aesthetics of ceramic vases and sculptures, which can only be fully realized through hand-building. Because each piece is built by hand, no two are ever exactly alike making every creation one of a kind.
